    Adding 98mm custom fixture

Lots of stuff has to be changed and modified

Increasing rotary axis range from +/- 10 degree to now +/- 25 degrees!!

    Finished modification to the mill.
Lots of cutting metal and re-arranging the dust shields.
Changed the CNC controller to allow more range of movement.
    Designing the fixture now.
Will 3d print to check, then machine from Aluminum and Delrin (POM)
For soft materials only and dry-milling

We are slowly finishing design for fixture and programming CAM and modifying CNC controller.

    Everything looks OK so far.

We will have success to increase the rotary travel a lot! More than double the original design!

Employee Brad draw this here for me. (Thanks!!) :)

I am sure he is sick of all my ideas and revisions that went on and on for over a week! lol :wacky:

We measured and discussed everything 10x and hoping for success the first go around before manufacturing it. Lots to consider!

We are 3d printing this custom fixture right now.

    About a 30hr job using 30um x 30um x 30um resolution mode

    approx. 0.0012" layer thickness, or 0.030mm (30um)

The top part will be Delrin (POM White plastic VERY hard)

    The bottom will be Aluminum.

This is a much better attempt at something like this....

Use fingers to turn just a little the Four colored knurled nutz. Only loosen.

Twist ring a little and it comes off. No tools necessary. Fast and easy.

I added a step down to lower the Green Nutz in relation to centerline of material.

To have more room for collet and spindle when at angle.

Same clearance on both sides of fixture. We split the difference of highest part on both sides of fixture.

We should be able to machine all areas of disk at 25 degrees, and go deep into a 35mm disk

without having any collisions. This is way beyond what machine was designed to do.

how about open face puck ?? screws at the arrows

  9. DMC

    DMC Scott Hudson

No....that does not face the spindle.

I did think of this but the design would be wild

I made open face for my haas 6 years ago.

That mill is 3+1. Not a true 4-axis mill.

Only can flip the disk 0 and 180 degrees.

I did consider the newer fixture to be open on One side.

We can always change it or cut away material.

For the primacon CNC 500 would need to look like this kind of?

Needs lots of small changes, but this is basic shape

Well we did change the design to open face on One side.

Not going to print it again though.

We just cut our 3d printer prototype and changed the CAD

Maybe @Codfish Joe will post a screen shot of the new design changes?

    Almost finished.

One week we will have fixture done and milling I hope?

Do you need a test file to mill in zirc..I sent one to Brad a couple of weeks ago, he said you weren't able to that yet. He mentioned the 500.
Let me know... its a full arch AO4 hybrid.
