Does anyone have any great resources for converting scans into an .stl format? We use exocad but we are wanting to reach out to doctors who have a variety of scanners and we want to know how to convert those scans to work on our exocad. What do we need to know about iTero, carestream, Sirona, Trios, etc.

Most of these scanners are able to do stl export.
iTero gives you stl after sending scans to Align to match them. So you shoud pay for every case. I do not know a way to convert their 3dm to stl. Yet.
Trios easy. It gives you 3oxz, if I am not misstake. It can be converted to dcm using 3shape lab software. dcm to stl --> crosmanager software.

Crossmanager software doesn't convert all 3Sheep DCM files to STL.
exocad can be configured to accept 3oxz files directly. The information is here on the site.

We don't have 3shape software, is there a different way?

And 2thm8kr, could you point me in the direction of where that info is?

Exocad can read 3oxz files and most of the others, sirona unless converted to stl not

This was a several years old solution. Nowadays I prefer iTero scans due to their xml with complete case info.
Thanks for the info, I will check additional import options.

A new Exocad can read files iTero, carestream, Sirona, Trios, etc.

I am running version 6136. How do I accept Trios scans into this version of Exocad? I have an account that just purchased a Trios and now his rep is asking me to set up the ability to take his scans.

Do I need to register with 3Shape to accept files?

    No.

Configure the Trios to export to a folder on the desk top. ( whoever sold them the Trios should be able to do this)
Copy the exported folder and have the office send it via an FTP or email if the file is small enough.

Thank you for all of the advice. You really got me up and running with Exocad a couple of years ago, and now I love it. Would you,or anyone that you may know be willing to send me an old Trios file that you may have, so that I can see how to import it and practice working on it?

The one that I had around here has a corrupt xml file so it throws an error when trying to use the load function in exocad.

I think there is one posted here on 3d site.

Hey guys, my main account bought a Sirona scanner and has no intentions of designing or milling. Im running 6136 Exocad I need to set this up to accept files. Is there some XML code I can plug in somewhere to turn this on? Im going to set up a BAA account on google drive to have them upload files. Assuming Sirona scanner can output to .stl?

    ello RexKamer,
if your account use Cerec he can do a stl output by the latest software. If he uses the ladsoftware ( Cad15 for instance ) he need the stl outputmodule ( 3000.- € in germany ).

Currently there is no xml edit to import scans from Sirona into exocad. You will have to fill out a job order and manually import the scans.
