dtx for implant/surgical guides... but apparently it can only make fully guided guides for nobel implants only... quite crippled, I must say.

we just got LS3 and dtx a few days ago. here's the rundown.

it has 2.8MP camera, but it's less detailed than the 2MP from dof. although, the dof 2MP is more detailed and clean than the dual 5MP from 3shape D850. the stated MP ratings seem to be quite irrelevant, but the die scan is very poor. not sure if that's the norm, or ours is faulty. also getting a lot of holes in the scans.

our scanner has some issues. colour scan isn't working. it has connection issues, usually when you turn it on, it takes many tries before connecting. demo unit had same problem, so it's worrisome. it also has connection issues during scanning, and you have to start over. colour scanning is also not working. everything is red. they haven't been able to fix it, and now waiting to see what they'll do next.

you can't export during scanning. only after everything is scanned, can you export everything. you can't import while scanning. you can import a full job with all scans but can't import individual scans. very strange. there is no manual matching function. yes, you heard right. if die matching fails, you have to do it in design software. the occlusion matching hasn't failed yet, but sometimes it takes several minutes to match. lack of this feature is quite puzzling. also, can't really trim the scan. no option for gingival scan.

this exocad is heavily modified. basically valletta, but missing some features like gingival design. feature set will differ from base exocad, as you get them when they add them. it came with just the very basic libraries. it's supposed to have all the basic modules, but I don't know exactly what they are, since I'm never given a list. no dentalDB, you go through procera. It looks like you can only do screw retained crowns for Nobel cases. no manual positioning screw retained cases possible. you can't share scenes with other versions. you also can't export meshes. well, you can, but only to a proprietary format that only it can use. it's useless for any kind of integration with other versions of exocad.

another particularly annoying thing is that you're basically limited to one installation. you can't just switch dongle to another computer and use it there. you have to log on to the website controls and remove the registration and then go through the registration on the new computer with installation key and everything. may not be an issue for some, but it's highly annoying to us. it really shouldn't be necessary since the dongle limits you to 1 user at a time anyway.

    some updates

here's a scan comparison. there's no other way to put it. the die scan is terrible. they're looking into it. we're testing the fit of crowns right now, and so far, it's not looking good. hopefully it's a malfunction of some sort, because the alternative is that the scanner is just plain terrible.

its build by SO and i dont think nobel has any scansoftware to run it that makes less sense not their competence . and i think scanhead is the same as on HD

and the scan to be honest is better with a handy thats never 2.8 MP or if shit high compressed data

doesn't matter to me who built it, Nobel is sold it so I'll just consider it Nobel's. they're going to test to see if it's a software issue. hopefully they find something because we're on the verge of returning it.

Yes, It appears DTX is a heavily molested and crippled version of exocad. It was given to us so we can send abutments to nobel. I'm trying to figure out if theres a way to export or crack their nbstl files so that I can design the crown and mill it while they produce the abutment. Would be cool to import a fully designed exocad case into their version. The db software is entirely different though.
